I recently needed to graft two pieces of knitting with 1x1 ribbing, and I discovered that there was no information on how to use kitchener stitch with ribbing, although there are resources and tutorials about using kitchener stitch with stockinette and garter stitch. So I decided to write up a tutorial with photos for anyone who wants to try grafting ribbing, but isn't sure how to do it. I hope some of you will find this helpful! Let me know if any of the directions are unclear.
If anyone is interested, this is the finished object that I used grafting for, a top-down raglan shoulder jacket in Lion Brand Wool-Ease Thick and Quick in the Charcoal colorway.
The grafting was necessary for the collar. I originally did not do a long enough section of ribbing before I started the shoulders, so I knit an extension, unraveled the original cast-on, and grafted the new part of the collar.
The back has darts and a bit of a peplum.
The garter stitch button band has crocheted loops rather than buttonholes.
I made a matching cap with the leftover yarn and one extra button.
